This is the screenplay for our music video: Stay Too Long
Scene 1: Pre-song
Location: Bedroom
A woman (Mrs Banks) wakes up in her bed. The camera slowly moves up the length of the bed from a bird's eye point of view. We see her wake up and roll over, then she realises that her husband is not next to her. She looks sad and disappointed by the realisation of the absence of her husband.
Mrs Banks gets out of bed and leaves the room. As she does we see a shot of the bed side cabinet which has her husband's ring left on it.
Mrs Banks walks down the stairs of the house, as she does so, the post arrives and a news paper lands on the door mat. She picks up the paper to read it and then the camera zooms in through the image on the front page which is a picture of her husband Strickland Banks and a girl looking quite close. The head line on the paper reads:
'STRICKLAND BANKS HAVING A FLING WITH A FAN?'
Transitional Scene
As the images come up the music starts (before vocals start)
The camera zooms into the picture and a flash occurs as if the picture has just been taken.
The still image from the paper is now full screen and then other images start to come into the frame. They are all images which have occurred throughout the night and are rewinding the pictures.
Another flash occurs as the last images come up and that image is a still of Strickland Banks performance, then he starts playing.
Scene 2
Location: Stage
This scene is where the actual music and vocals begin
As the pitch for the songs intro climaxes that's when the flash transition will occur to reveal Strickland Banks on stage starting his performance of the song.
Throughout this part we see numerous shots and angles of his band, playing the drums guitar etc. This will help to ass a sense of realism and authenticity.
We then cut back to his wife looking confused and an empathetic expression on her face. She then bursts into tears and starts crying.
We then cut back to the performance for a while to see him singing and we see the crowd enjoying the performance.
Scene 3
Location: The Street
This is where the video starts to follow the lyrics.
Strickland Banks and his friends are out in the street (possibly London) and they are getting into a fight with a group of guys. We see them brawling and punching each other. Then we see blue flashing lights as the police are on their way and the groups run off.
We then cut back to the performance for the chorus to see him singing and we see the crowd enjoying the performance and the band playing along.
Scene 4
Location: Roads & Streets
Continuation from scene 3
We see a POV shot of the ground as he Strickland is running. He is being chased by the police. (This follows the lyrics) He and his mates are running away so we see a chase scene unveil. A close up on his face reveals his lip is cut from the fight and he has blood on his top, looking worse for wear.
They all stop on a street corner where we see them talking, they all look pumped up from the adrenaline from the fight and the chase. Strickland then whistles and hails a taxi. He and his friends all get in, then we see the taxi dive off down the road as the scene closes.
A cut back to the stage and we see the performance again briefly.
Scene 5:
Location: Bar/Pub
All of the friends get out of the taxi and Strickland Banks is last. His friends go into the bar while he pays the driver who then drives off. Strickland is looking a bit messed up and rugged. As he is outside the bar there are photographers and paparazzi taking pictures and being a general annoyance, this is trying to portray the media in a negative light. He tidies himself up and walks through a door into a bar. POV shots show people drinking and dancing and laughing, all having a good time. His agents are already at the bar and hand him some shots.
As the 'Ah c'mons' begin, we see split screens of him in the bar, his girlfriend crying and breaking down and his performance.
Scene 6
Location: Bar
His mates and agent/manager call him over to the bar and hand him a drink they already have for him. They all clink their glasses and are laughing having a good time.
They're all joking and having fun. Shouting and conforming to the general laddish culture.
Strickland's Phone begins to ring, he looks at it and realises itís his wife. We see all his mates in the background having a good time. Then he rejects the call and puts the phone on silent, then putting it back in his pocket to rejoin his friends.
Other shots and angle of the bar showing people dancing and enjoying the evening. His agent/manager are encouraging him, doing shots etc.
Strickland looks down the bar and catches the eye of an attractive girl. With some encouragement from his agent, he then moves over to her and buys her a drink and starts flirting. They clink their classes and the scene cuts.
Scene 7
Location: Taxi and Hotel
Strickland is in a taxi with the girl he met in the bar, they're kissing and flirting.
They get out of the taxi by a hotel but there are more photographers and paparazzi all around the hotel and they start taking pictures of Strickland and his new girl. The scene ends with a flash and the still picture, the same as the one that was on the newspaper at the beginning.
Scene 8
Location: Stage
This is right at the end of the song and it goes back to the performance and Strickland Banks is singing. As the song ends on the "Ahhhhh" he knocks the microphone over and it fades outs. The screen goes blanks and it ends in tandem with the music.
Scene 9
Location: House
This scene is post song
The song is over and then the screen comes back from the black screen and we see a hand knocking on the door. A woman opens it and its Mrs Banks, we then see Strickland standing in front of her. The screen fades to black and it's over.
